Conversations with God: God Wants to Speak
Updated: Apr 10, 2019
Have you ever wanted to hear from God? How do you discern the voice of God? I consider these questions in a podcast series on prayer and listening to God.
"Do you really believe God loves you enough to die for you, but not enough to talk to you?"
This quote leapt out at me from the pages of the introduction to Priscilla Shirer’s book, Discerning the Voice of God.
I was going through a period where I just really wanted to hear from God. Certain dreams and plans had shattered around me, and suddenly I was unsure about everything. I needed to hear what God had to speak into my situation, but I didn’t know if He would talk to me, or, perhaps more accurately, I wasn’t sure how to hear Him and how to recognise His voice as distinct from my own thoughts.
So, God began to take me on an adventure of learning to listen to Him that continues today.
In this series of podcasts from my breakfast show on Adventist Radio London, I share personal stories and insights that I've been gleaning as I discover how to have conversations with God.
If you're a bookworm like me, I can heartily recommend two books that I share a lot from in these podcasts. One is Discerning the Voice of God by Priscilla Shirer, and the other is Walking with God by John Eldredge.
Enjoy the adventure of learning to hear from God, not only talk to him!
